Pastureland to Woodland Paradise!
Come see how pastureland is becoming transformed into a woodland paradise!
Beginning with the purchase of 20 acres in 2006, we have incrementally begun the process of transforming the property from former pasture to a woodland escape. Fields to Forest borders David's Fork Branch, David' Fork Creek, railroad and Briar Hill Road. Through the direction and template of a Forest Management plan designed by the Kentucky Division of Forestry, a plan was formulated to eliminate invasive species, plant native trees and shrubs, and protect native plant regeneration that occurs after invasive plants are removed. Several thousand trees have been planted using different methods, resulting in a young woodland. These practices have designated our property as a Stewardship forest. Additionally, a small nursery has been established with native trees and shrubs (in containers) that are available for sale to the public.
The tour will begin with the nursery and progress around the property, including planting sites, creek views, and sites were invasives have been removed.
Please meet at the black barn on the property. To get there, please follow the driveway to the barn, located behind the house.
