Urban Forest Initiative Tree Week 2019 Managing Garden Trees and Shrubs

Description

This tour through an established, private native plant garden discusses diversity, plant selection and management issues. Trees of all sizes and all size groups live in this garden, as do a large number of shrubs. All need to be coaxed into getting along with each other. They should grow into an aesthetic ensemble that is pleasing to us humans in all seasons and also accommodates herbaceous flowers and groundcovers. This requires periodic pruning, the occasional removal of a plant and the occasional well selected addition. Gardeners need to be both bold and observant. There is much to observe in this boldly conceived naturalistic garden.
