Please join us as we continue to celebrate the trees and greenspaces around us with our friends, neighbors and strangers. Tree Week 2020 programs include socially distanced small group in-person events as well as digital activities to engage everyone. Remember to follow our local public health guidelines about wearing masks, keeping at least 6 feet from others not in your family and staying home if you feel ill. Wash your hands with soap & water or use hand sanitizer during and after events. Take advantage of the healing power of nature and join in the celebration!

The Tree Week committee is actively involved in re-imagining events that continue their important overall goal of engaging us with the trees and greenspaces that enhance our lives (perhaps now more than ever), though with an added emphasis on community safety and health. Here are some of the types of activities we are envisioning:

  • Virtual leaming event (e.g. webinar, interactive seminar, ask an expert, kids' tree story time, movie)
  • Small group or individual activities (e.g. Tree ID virtual Learning program+ build your own leaf press+ at home leaf collection; tree pruning virtual demo+ at-home implementation; targeted neighborhood virtual+ implementation event, etc.)
  • Socially-distanced outdoor event for a small number of individuals, families, or students (e.g. tree distribution, tree planting, mulching, tree pruning, bike tour, on-your-own walking tour, nature photography)
  • Virtual mindfulness in nature or art/writing/music experience (e.g. yoga, mindfulness tree walk, essays)
  • Logging/tracking your outdoor experience (e.g. could be similar to Reforest at Home, Bioblitz, every day in a park experience, hiking, birding, tree planting, tree ID, etc.)
