Narrative
I selected the white oak tree on the President's lawn at Maxwell Place because of the iconic location, sentimental value, and because of the ecological services provided to UK campus. This tree is important to me because I am using DNA from these trees (collected by Rachel) to study white oak genetics. In the future, I hope we can use the information obtained from these trees to facilitate improvement of white oaks for reforestation and industry purposes across Kentucky.
