Narrative
This tree is important to us because we walk by it every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on our way to our Gen 100 class. Also after we come out of our 2 hour lecture class for Agricultural Biotechnology, confined to the dark concrete walls of Ag. North, this tree is one of the first signs of life our eyes see. The tree suffers daily from toxic fuel emissions from passing cars on Nicholasville Road and the road in between Ag. North and the UK Hospital Emergency Room. The tree usually goes unnoticed by most, but we cannot ignore its natural beauty and perseverance for life. In addition, contrary to its small size, trees like ours also provide large proportional economic and environmental benefits as shown below.
